Hey y’all! I’m super excited to bring y’all a new series of blog posts that will be up at the end of every month! I always loved using this time to plan out seasonal activities for the following month, so I thought I’d share my own activities to help you with your planning. If you’d like to check out the products in my TeachersPayTeachers store, you can click on the product titles to see them in more detail!
Let’s start off with a FREEBIE, shall we?! These monthly ABC order cards are some of my favorites! Included are 10 Valentine’s Day themed cards in color and black/white, a recording sheet, and a cut-and-paste practice sheet using the same words. This activity is a great center for extra ABC order practice, or as a group activity!
These are another favorite from my own personal classroom! Weekly newsletters make communicating with parents so easy! In this set, each month include 2 monthly newsletter templates and 5 weekly newsletter templates. Edit the date and content to keep your students and their parents in the “know” about what’s coming up in class!
It’s certainly that time of year for dodging germies in class! Worry less and take care of your body more with my monthly substitute packs! Each month includes 20 practice pages covering only what your students have learned up to that point (in most states!). That way, you won’t have to worry about your substitute introducing new skills or your students feeling lost with new information. If this February set is helpful for you, save on the rest of the year’s sub plans with my year-long bundle!
Fitting in time to review previous skills is always a struggle. Hopefully my morning work/spiral review packs will solve this for you! Each month includes 4 weeks (Monday-Friday) of practice, with one ELA skill and one Math skill each day. These fun packs are full of fun activities to sharpen fundamental skills all year long!
I don’t know about you, but coming up with Writing centers was always difficult for me. I wanted activities that would keep my kiddos engaged while I worked with my small groups, and sometimes “free writing” just doesn’t cut it. To help with sentence structure and seasonal vocabulary practice, I created these seasonal sentence puzzles! Students will be so focused on putting together the bright images, they won’t even realize the practice they’re getting! You can find the February set above, or save by purchasing the year-long bundle here!
Another way I liked to focus students’ writing was by using seasonal prompts. This allowed me to focus on the season (which clearly I love to do!) and help my kiddos who just couldn’t seem to figure out what to write. This month’s prompts also make great conversation starters to refresh their sense of classroom community and family! (These are also available in a money-saving year-long bundle here!)
My final February favorite is for your little ones! LG absolutely loves playing with her sensory bins, and I wanted to make them a little more “academic” now that her interest in learning is peeking! We love practicing with our matching mats! (You can read more about how I keep sensory play simple and fun in my blog post here!)
Well, folks! I hope you enjoyed getting a quick overview of all my February/Valentine’s Day themed activities available in my TPT store! As always, if you have any questions or comments please send them my way!
